Supporting the social and emotional needs of children and their caregivers.

“When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

Fred Rogers

I offer individual counseling to children and adults, parent consultations, educator supports and small group social-emotional learning (SEL) opportunities for children.

See my “services” section below to learn more about how I can help and how to enroll.

About Me

As a school counselor, I spent nearly 15 years devoted to my elementary school students and their caregivers. Now, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am thrilled to bring my expertise to more families in our community.

Parents reach out to me when they’re feeling stressed, frustrated and confused. Through my play-based collaborative process, I help children develop foundational skills that set them up for success. And I help their caregivers find hope and confidence in supporting their child.

My goal is to help children get the supports they need early on — before emotions and behaviors get too big and feel insurmountable. I am the therapist who helps families catch things early. Parents can work with me without being concerned about “labeling” their child. Parents can also, if they would like, work with me to understand whether or not their child may meet criteria for a clinical diagnosis. Either way, we will work together to determine effective ways to support their child’s healthy growth and development.

I believe in the power of group counseling for a number of reasons. Groups are more cost effective for many families. Groups enable real-time hands-on learning and practice in a setting that mimics their real world environment. Groups help teach and transfer social/emotional awareness and skills to other settings (like home and school). A child does NOT need to have a diagnosis of any kind to join my groups!

I also believe in the power of supporting caregivers. Caring for others plus managing our daily life stressors can make it feel virtually impossible to tend to ourselves, think clearly, and respect our personal goals. In addition to supporting children, I offer individual counseling sessions for adults. It’s my honor to help support the well-being of other caregivers in our community.

Contact me today to talk about how I can help support your family.

Individual Therapy

Are you or your child looking for guidance, support, and tools to help manage life’s ups and downs? Maybe your child is struggling to leave your side. Or find confidence in making friends. Maybe they lose control of their emotions easily or retreat from healthy social interaction.

Are you battling daily stress, exhaustion, and fatigue? Starting to feel like you are alone in an uphill battle that you don’t fully understand? Maybe you are already aware of your own mental health needs, but could benefit from a compassionate ear and opportunities to talk through this difficult time in your life. Let’s meet individually to understand your needs and concerns, set goals, and develop plans for improving a healthy mindset and daily life experience for you and/or your child.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Groups

Are you seeking additional opportunities for your child to interact with same-age peers while learning and practicing important life skills? Talk to me today about enrolling in a small group that will help your child develop and sustain healthy friendships, teach foundational skills about emotional identification and awareness, strategies to help calm their mind and body, improve their ability to cope with big feelings, manage family changes, build resiliency, healthy independence and more.

*Note: Your child does NOT need a diagnosis to participate in any of my groups. I meet with families individually before groups begin to ensure group member compatibility and keep a small 3-4 children: 1 professional counselor ratio for all small group experiences.

Parent Consultation

Not sure if your child needs ongoing support? Interested in periodically talking out some scenarios or situations with a professional who is experienced in understanding and supporting children? Need help in navigating possible supports for your child through their school? I can help. Request a consultation (in person or via telehealth) and we will problem-solve and make a plan together.

Educator Supports

Do you work in an educational setting and are looking for additional consultation or guidance around ways to support your students’ social-emotional health, ability to follow directions, learn important school related routines, and find comfort and a sense of success in the classroom? Let’s talk about ways that I can help understand your unique educational needs and develop a plan to help empower your staff and support your families.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Group Offerings:

SEL groups focus on social skills, emotion regulation, resiliency and friendship connections for children ages 4-10. They are an excellent way for kids to enhance their ability to establish healthy friendships, build confidence in social situations, manage difficult emotions and experiences, and try new things! Groups are typically clustered based on age/grade level and are 45min in length. During the K-12 school-year, groups meet weekly for approximately 6-10 weeks (depending on the group). **During the summer, groups are offered each week and families may sign up for the dates that work best for them (no long-term commitment required).

*Note: Social skill groups are run in 6-week units which may be extended throughout the school year in order to support ongoing skill development and practice for those in need.

Groups are billed at a rate of $50/session. I am considered an “out of network provider.” Payment for all group sessions will be charged to the credit card on file after the first group session. **During the summer, groups are billed separately each week. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out to discuss a payment plan that may help.

Enrolling in a group is easy!

Step 1: Express interest in registering for a group. For School-Year SEL Groups, use THIS FORM to sign up.

(For Summer SEL Groups, there will be a separate form.)

Step 2: Schedule an intake appointment and complete initial paperwork prior to your meeting. After receiving your interest form submission, I will reach out to schedule a 20-30 minute intake appointment with you and your child. This will be a “getting to know you” type meeting designed to introduce our meeting space and set expectations for what will happen during group times. Intake sessions are billed at a rate of $25 per appointment. The credit card you have on file will be charged after the intake appointment. ***If you are an existing client, the intake appointment and fee may be waived and you will receive priority sign up for groups.

Scheduling your intake appointment will also initiate access to a secure Client Portal where you can review and complete necessary paperwork prior to our first meeting.

Additional group offerings will be scheduled throughout the year. If you are interested in a particular topic for a small group, email me to discuss your child’s needs. BethFlynnCounseling@gmail.com

*A FREE (20 min) phone consultation to determine what type of support may be most beneficial for your child is available prior to any services. I am considered “out-of-network” for insurance. An intake appointment (approx 1 hr) will be scheduled prior to individual sessions at a cost of $160. This cost includes additional time for treatment planning.

A 20-minute intake appointment will be scheduled individually with families (you and your child) prior to group sessions starting.
